Small animation project regarding my sense of identity as a trans man and the self-love I hold for my younger self. It is often assumed that transgender individuals regret/purposely forget their past selves in order to move forward with their transition. The reality is that, much like everyone else, our childhoods help shape who we are today. I feel no amount of regret in the way I was raised, girlhood or not. Through self-love, I'm able to easily navigate my sense of identity moving forward.

Each asset drawn in Photoshop in grayscale. Appropriate parts are drawn separately and on line-boil as well (meaning two variants per moving part). Color is then added on top of grayscale.
Both assets test-run in Photoshop, by making sure the colors and overlay options are seamless and work properly.
(Note that both illustrations are masked on top of the shape. This technique will be used in After Effects to create a seamless moving transition)
All assets first composited into 2D comps using After Effects.
Movement is then applied to these 2D assets, making sure that they are symmetrical and on a loop.
2D assets then taken into 3D space using After Effects 3D camera rig. Masks are needed to properly create the transition and show the correct colors.
